Do you remember in elementary school when some kid’s Mom would bring in cupcakes for their birthday? I remember those days being the best, everyone in class knew when the next birthday was and we would all count down the days until the next cupcake day. We always pitied those poor kids who had summer birthdays and couldn’t have their own special day, what could be worse than only having birthday cake at home with your family?!
As we grow older birthday cupcakes aren’t a given anymore, thankfully however, cupcake shops are coming to the rescue! Any day of the week you can be transported back to 3rd grade and have your own birthday cupcake (even if it isn’t your birthday)! Here, we’re inundated with cupcake options. For example, on Wednesdays there are four separate cupcake establishments within walking distance (3 blocks) of our workplace, all of which offer at least 7 different flavors to choose from. Here’s to being a little kid again!
Our current reigning champ is the Cookies and Cream Cupcake from Georgetown Cupcakes, it’s the perfect blend of summer kid’s treat – it’s like a throwback to your Baskin Robin’s ice cream cake! At every bite there is an Oreo®, beginning with Oreo® (yes, Oreo®, not the sad fake kind) crumbles on top and baked into the cake batter and a light sweet cream frosting it’s like the Oreo® exploded and reformed into cupcake heaven. Honestly, do yourself a favor and find a Georgetown Cupcake near you (or order it if you can) and channel your inner 8 year old!
