Our Story

Humble Beginnings

In 1971, brothers Wayne and Earl Fletcher had a vision of owning a business, so on a wing and a prayer they mortgaged their homes and took ownership of an antiquated mill that once served as a blacksmith shop. Many of the simpler items which the Fletcher brothers began manufacturing, including wooden nickels, tool handles and toy parts, are still being made today.

Today

Today, Maine Wood Concepts (parent company of Fletchers’ Mill) is under the sole ownership of Jody Fletcher, and recently celebrated it’s 50th anniversary. The company employs around 65 workers and their family of businesses include Fletchers’ Mill, Maine Wood Turning which specializes in custom wood turnings, moldings and finishing, and Lutz File & Tool Company which makes wooden file handles. From raw logs to the finished product the entire process is done in house and under a watchful eye.

Our People

Our people make all the difference, crafting each product with great pride as if they were making it for themselves or a loved one. Fletchers’ Mill employees not only use our products but are also proud to recommend them to family, friends and neighbors. From our family to yours, THANK YOU for supporting American jobs & businesses!

Forest to Table

One of the newest trends for restaurants is farm to table, offering locally grown food directly from small farmers to family and restaurant tables. Fletchers’ Mill has used this same approach for many years, only forest to table. All of our wood is from sustainably harvested sources and all of our sawdust and scrap wood is recycled and used in a variety of products, including wood pellets used to heat many New England Homes.
